An e-mail campaign is a powerful marketing tool and is used to keep in touch with clients, introduce new products and services, announce staff changes, upcoming events and awards, and communicate anything your prospects or clients might find interesting.
According to the Direct Marketing Association, the return on investment (ROI) for each dollar spent on e-mail marketing is $57.25. This clearly makes it the highest ROI across all marketing channels. E-mail marketing is expected to exceed $1 billion by 2010.
This is a SOFT SELL, and the primary purpose of such campaigns is to make sure clients and future prospects know your company when it comes time to make business decisions. If they are interested in your services or products, they will appreciate the updates. Additionally, your company can make sure that follow-up, up-sell and referral generation programs.
What is nice about these type of campaigns is that if you are offering something that someone is interested in, they can sign themselves up to your newsletter using a simple form on your website and their email is automatically added to the list database. They also have the ability to unsubscribe to your email which makes managing your list almost hassle free. Initially, if you already have a list of contacts, the emails may need to be manually entered into the database. Unless, of course, the list is in a tabled format such as an Excel spread sheet document that can simply be uploaded to the database.
